Ingram Micro's VentureTech Network Big Apple Chapter Helps NJ Charity Realize the Promise of Technology

Ingram Micro Channel Partners Provide a Technology Refresh to The Center in Asbury Park, Inc.

BUFFALO, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 08/15/14 -- The Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM) VentureTech Network (VTN) Big Apple Chapter has helped New Jersey's The Center in Asbury Park, Inc. realize the promise of technology by donating IT services, solutions and products to the charitable organization. The effort is part of VTN's ongoing "Big Apple Chapter Cares" program, which assists local philanthropic organizations throughout the year upgrade their technology infrastructure to better service the local community.

After VTN Big Apple Chapter President Daniel J. Haurey, CEO of New Jersey IT company Exigent Technologies, nominated The Center for the donation, thousands of dollars in technology equipment and services were gathered, integrated and deployed by Big Apple Chapter members. A not-for-profit service organization, The Center will leverage the new technology to better serve individuals living with HIV/AIDS as well as their caregivers. The Center offers housing services, nutrition programs, referral services, transportation, education and more.

"Like everyone else, we depend on computer services and technology, but as a small not-for-profit, it's a challenge to update and replace our equipment as we should," says Father Bob Kaeding, founder and executive director of The Center in Asbury Park. "We appreciate the support and services that Exigent and the Big Apple Cares program have provided. Having better technology will help us do our jobs better and get the word out about The Center. Those chapter members donating technology products included Quarterhorse Technology (SonicWALL firewall); Real Time Consultants (uninterruptable power supply); PriorityOne Group (EnGenius wireless access point); and Bit by Bit (PC monitors).

Manufacturers providing IT products included Acer Inc. (desktop computers); Buffalo Americas, Inc. (network attached storage); Sophos, Ltd. (anti-virus software) via Tahas Technologies; and StorageCraft Technology Corp. (backup software).
