Ingram Micro Celebrates Its Military Veteran Associates, Family and Friends
Distributor's Buffalo Campus Marks Veterans Day With Ceremony, Donations to Military Charities
BUFFALO, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 11/08/13 -- As part of an ongoing commitment to honoring those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the world's largest wholesale technology distributor, will hold a Veterans Day celebration in its Buffalo office on Monday, Nov. 11.
The day includes a breakfast for more than 30 Ingram Micro military veteran associates, followed by a ceremony honoring those associates, as well as veterans and active military among all Ingram Micro associates' families and friends. Local Canisius College ROTC members will be on hand to present the colors and two donations will be made to local veterans' charities.
Ingram Micro will donate $2,013 each to the Veterans Affairs (VA) Western New York's Homeless Veterans, which provides housing services, compensated work therapy, healthcare services and employment assistance to homeless veterans, and to Western New York Heroes, which provides disability services and financial assistance to veterans, active duty military and the widows and children of deceased veterans. Funds for the donations were raised by associates via a raffle with donated prizes and a "jeans day," in which associates could make a monetary donation in exchange for a casual dress day.
"At Ingram Micro, we work hard to create a culture that's inclusive of all life experiences, and this Veterans Day, we're grateful to have the opportunity to recognize and thank the veterans among our employees and community for their service," said Paul Bay, senior executive vice president and president, Ingram Micro North America. "We're honored that the Canisius College ROTC will be there to help us make this a great event and proud to offer our support to both the VA Homeless Veterans organization and our Western New York Heroes."
This is the second year the Buffalo office has held such an event and the first time the ceremony has been open to the families and friends of Ingram Micro associates, according to Susan O'Sullivan, executive director of sales, commercial VAR, Ingram Micro U.S.
"The VA Western New York and Western New York Heroes were both chosen because of their commitment to serving our nation's veterans," O'Sullivan said.
