Ingram Micro Consumer Electronics Donates Computers and School Supplies to Arizona StRUT and Balsz School District

Associates Support Educational Initiatives and Demonstrate Ingram Micro's Ongoing Commitment to Local Communities

SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- (Marketwired) -- 09/30/13 -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the world's largest wholesale technology distributor, today announced that its Consumer Electronics business unit (IMCE) has donated 120 gently used Intel® Pentium® 4 computers and more than 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to two local organizations in need.

The computers will go to Arizona StRUT, a local nonprofit organization that teaches high-risk students to refurbish old computers. The Intel Pentium 4 computers will be rebuilt by the students and later donated to other educational programs in need of technology, such as school districts. Arizona StRUT's program helps prepare students for a career in technology and teaches teamwork and accountability to participants.

The backpacks, which were filled with school supplies by Ingram Micro associates, will go to students from the low-income Balsz School District, via United Way. IMCE also donated additional supplies for teachers, prizes for student giveaways, 13 boxes of multipurpose paper, and a microwave for school use. The backpacks and supplies were funded by a series of five "Casual for a Cause" days, in which Ingram Micro associates could donate either five dollars or a pre-approved school supply in exchange for a casual dress day.

The associate-driven donation efforts reflect the professional and personal enthusiasm Ingram Micro has for continually giving back to the local community, according to Thomas Bamrick, executive director and general manager, Ingram Micro Consumer Electronics.

"Social responsibility is a core value at Ingram Micro, and our IMCE associates strive to make a positive influence and lasting impact in our local communities through efforts such as these," says Bamrick. "Ingram Micro is honored to support these organizations and give back to the cities where our associates live and work."

The IMCE business unit is based in Scottsdale, Ariz. IMCE is the distribution partner of choice for CE-focused retailers and resellers throughout the U.S. Supported by a dedicated team of specialized marketing, sales and technical experts, Ingram Micro Consumer Electronics offers channel partners the largest portfolio of consumer electronics and converged technologies in the United States. www.imce.com
