Ingram Micro Honored With Anthony V. Mannino Foundation's Hero Award

Nonprofit Grants First Partnership Award to Technology Distributor's Buffalo Office

BUFFALO, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 06/12/13 -- Last month, the Buffalo, N.Y., office of Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the world's largest wholesale technology distributor and a global leader in IT supply-chain, mobile device lifecycle services and logistics solutions, was honored with the Anthony V. Mannino Foundation's first Hero Award. The award recognizes foundation supporters that embody the spirit of the foundation's namesake, Anthony V. Mannino, who succumbed to esophageal cancer in 2009 at the age of 21.

The Buffalo-based nonprofit selected Ingram Micro for this honor after the company donated $40,000 at the distributor's 17th annual East Coast Charity Golf Tournament. Ingram Micro hosts the philanthropic event annually, distributing as much as $225,000 across a handful of charitable organizations in the Buffalo Niagara region. Since first launching the golf tournament in 1997, Ingram Micro has donated nearly $1.5 million dollars to regional organizations.

This is the first year that the Mannino Foundation Hero Award was presented by the nonprofit, which financially assists young adults undergoing cancer treatment. "When it was suggested that we create a Hero Award during a board meeting, we knew it would go to a sponsor who exemplifies what Anthony stood for -- caring, compassion and hope. There wasn't a question in our minds that it would go to Ingram Micro," said Cindy Mannino, Anthony's mother and the foundation's president.

During the award presentation ceremony, held earlier this year, Ingram Micro's Senior Sales Director Marty Battaglia surprised Mannino with another donation from the company, this one for $15,000. "I'm not speechless very often, but this had me at a loss for words," Mannino said. "Ingram Micro is a very warm group of people. We will be putting every penny of this money toward helping more young adults through their cancer treatments."

Ingram Micro's involvement with the Anthony V. Mannino Foundation began in 2010 after the nonprofit provided financial assistance to one of the distributor's own associates, who was undergoing cancer treatments. "Not only has the Anthony V. Mannino Foundation provided help for one of our own associates, they've done great things within the Buffalo community," Battaglia said. "We appreciate the opportunity to work with an organization that shares our dedication to improving the well-being of our community overall. This relationship embodies Ingram Micro's commitment to support and enhance our community, because Buffalo is not just where we do business, it is where we live and raise our families."
