Ingram Micro First Technology Distributor to Join EPA's Climate Leaders Program

Ingram Micro demonstrates its commitment to improving the environment and enhancing sustainability efforts by participating in elite industry-government partnership

SANTA ANA, Calif., June 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM) has become the first technology distributor to join the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Climate Leaders program, an elite industry-government partnership that recognizes and assists companies dedicated to environmental improvements through the measurable reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

"We are proud to join the Climate Leaders program and look forward to working with the EPA to continue putting in place environmentally responsible programs and procedures throughout our operations," said Keith Bradley, senior executive vice president and president, Ingram Micro North America. "Over the years, our sustainability efforts have had a positive impact on both the environment and our bottom line. For example, our packaging reduction program recently saved more than 700 tons of corrugated cartons in 2009 compared to 2008, and all of the cartons are 100 percent recyclable."

Through the Climate Leaders program, participating companies work closely with the EPA to develop comprehensive climate change strategies. Partner companies commit to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through aggressive goal-setting, ongoing measurement and regular progress reporting. The EPA provides benchmarking information, best-practice counsel and technical assistance.

"We commend Ingram Micro for their goals and look forward to working with them," said EPA's Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation, Gina McCarthy. "EPA's Climate Leaders program strives to be an instrumental part of responsible companies' sustainability efforts," McCarthy said.

Ria Carlson, senior vice president and head of Ingram Micro's Corporate Social Responsibility program, said that the EPA's Climate Leaders program is a natural complement to the company's global corporate responsibility work.

"This partnership supports our goal of continuous improvement, helping us quantify our carbon footprint, develop new ideas and set targets," she explained. "Working in tandem with the EPA, we look forward to developing programs that will be beneficial to our business partners, our communities and our company."
